Experienced Advocacy. Personal Representation.
Laura M. Baker is a North Carolina criminal defense attorney serving clients in Concord and throughout Cabarrus County. Her legal career has been shaped by a strong interest in courtroom advocacy, a commitment to her clients and years of experience representing individuals facing difficult legal situations.
Originally from La Grange, Texas, Laura moved to North Carolina in 2004 to attend law school. After graduating and beginning her legal career in a firm setting, she ultimately established her own law firm in 2018.
Today, Laura represents clients in criminal matters including DWI/DUI, traffic violations and other misdemeanor and felony cases.
For Laura, criminal defense is about more than addressing the charge. It is about understanding the person behind the case, examining the circumstances carefully and providing representation focused on protecting that client's rights and future.
A Career Built Around Advocacy
Laura's path toward becoming an attorney began before law school.
After earning her undergraduate degree, she obtained a paralegal certificate from the University of North Texas and worked as a legal project assistant at Fulbright & Jaworski, LLP in Austin, Texas.
That early experience provided an introduction to the legal profession before she moved to North Carolina to pursue her law degree. Laura graduated from Campbell University's Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law in 2007 and was admitted to practice in North Carolina that same year. After working in a firm setting following law school, she created her own firm in 2018.
That progression—from legal assistant to law student, courtroom advocate, practicing attorney and ultimately firm owner—has given Laura a broad perspective on the legal process and the responsibility that comes with representing someone whose future may be affected by a criminal case.

Family, Community & Life in Cabarrus County
Although Laura was born and raised in La Grange, Texas, North Carolina became home after she moved here to attend law school in 2004. Over the years, she has built not only her legal career in Cabarrus County, but also strong family and community ties.
Laura and her husband, Luke, met while attending law school at Campbell University. They were members of the same law fraternity, Delta Theta Phi, and were partners on the same mock trial team. They married in November 2008 and have two children, Garrett and Audrey.
Laura's involvement in the community has included serving on the Board of Directors for the Cabarrus Partnership for Children and as a board member for the Academic Learning Center. The Baker family has also been involved with St. James Lutheran Church in Concord.
For Laura, Cabarrus County is more than the place where she practices law. It is the community where she and her family have built their lives, and that connection gives her a personal understanding of the people and communities she serves.
